1. Murphy’s Laws

Born in 1917, Edward A. Murphy Jr. was one of the engineers in the US Air Force who conducted experiments on rockets in 1949.

He was studying the effects of acceleration on humans.

In one of the experiments, an accelerometer had to be attached to 16 different points on the pilot.

The sensor could only be attached with an adhesive in two ways. Someone managed to install all 16 sensors wrong.

Thereupon, Murphy announced his first statements, which would later be described as law, at a press conference.

Within months, “Murphy’s Laws” had spread among those working in the engineering field.

Murphy’s Laws are based on the following statement:

“If there is more than one possibility to accomplish a task and one of these possibilities will have unintended consequences or disaster; Surely that possibility will come true.”

2. Kidlin’s Law

Kidlin’s Laws are based on the following statement:

“If you can write the problem down clearly then the matter is half solved”

3. Gilbert’s Law

Gilbert Lafayette Laws (March 11, 1838 — April 25, 1907) was an American politician, newspaper publisher and businessman.

He served as the Nebraska Secretary of State and as a member of the United States House of Representatives during the 1800s.

Gilbert’s Laws are based on the following statement:

“The biggest problem with a job is that no one tells you what to do.”

4. Wilson’s Law

Wilson’s laws are also known as Wilson’s Principles, the Fourteen Points or the Fourteen Points.

These are the principles that Woodrow Wilson, the President of the United States of America, spoke about in his speech to the US Congress on January 8, 1918.

It expresses the views of the United States of America (USA) on the world order that it wants to be established after World War I.

“If you prioritize knowledge and talent, money will always come.”

5. Falkland’s Law

“Postpone decision making and don’t think about it if it’s not needed right now.”
