The personalized learning system — IXL (I Excel) has been studied, tested, and implemented for many years. It’s used by approximately 13 million students globally and is celebrating its 26th anniversary this year. ¹ It provides practice and drill exercises effectively, and many consider it a successful online learning platform.
However, some parents and students indicate that IXL math induces stress, self-doubt, and tears, and its scoring system is flagrantly disappointing. One student asserted IXL was used for five hours after school just to get 90% on an assignment. When asked about the “pros” of IXL, several users reported, “none.”
