I’m not going to answer all of these questions right now, but I will in future.
So make sure to stay along.
So… here are some real-life questions you might ask yourself.
There are various answers and solutions to those questions, but growing your own food is the best solution.
Then we won’t have to question our food. It is not hard to maintain a small home garden that meets your basic daily food needs.

However, if you are a newbie with no experience and are starting with no knowledge of the simple tricks I am about to tell you, it may be a bit challenging.
If you don’t choose the right plants to grow, you may find yourself hating gardening.
But do not let that happen.

Let’s look at what you should consider when deciding what to grow.

01.Create a gardening plan based on the available space.

You could have a small home garden, a balcony, or a slab. I’m not going to say it doesn’t matter because it does.

Even for the same plant, you may need to use two different methods when planting it on the ground and in a hanging pot or something on a balcony.

So, plan ahead of time and choose plants that are appropriate for your gardening space.

02.Selecting plants that are less sensitive to climatic and weather changes

You’re just getting started, right? So, choosing plants with high resistance will not disappoint you during times of climatic change.

Sweet potatoes, okra, bell peppers, eggplant, cucumber, corn, beans, spinach, tomatoes, and dragon fruits are among the plants that can withstand summer heat changes.

Plants such as collards, kale, spinach, carrots, fava beans, beets, turnips, and lettuce are just a few examples of plants that can withstand the changes in the winter season.

So, choose plants that are appropriate for the time of year you intend to grow them, as well as high-resilience plants that can withstand climatic changes.

03.Choose plants that can be harvested quickly.

This is not necessary, but it is useful if you are a beginner.
If you can get your harvest in a short period of time, you can identify your weaknesses, solutions to the problems you faced, and new techniques that you can use next time without having to wait so long.

Most of the time, we use home gardening as a source of food to meet our daily needs. Lettuce, kale, spinach, bok choy, radish, spring onions, broccoli, cucumber, and zucchini are some fast-growing plants you can choose from.

04.Selecting crops with an endless supply

Some crops provide multiple harvesting opportunities over the course of a year or so. Growing these plants, especially as a beginner, is worthwhile in terms of both time and effort.

Some of the regrowing crops you can grow in your garden include leeks, amaranth, broccoli, turnip greens, carrot greens, spinach, kale, basil, parsley, beets, bok choy, celery, and Egyptian onions.

05.Choose crops that require little upkeep

As a beginner, it would be helpful for you to begin with a variety of low-maintenance crops. The main benefits of choosing low-maintenance crops include not needing any experience or special tools, as well as the ability to maintain the garden alongside your busy life.

Garlic, onions, potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, leeks, watermelon, chives, basil, and cilantro are just a few of the low-maintenance crops to consider.

06.Knowing when each crop’s harvesting season is.

It is critical to understand how long each crop takes to produce a harvest.
When you know when to harvest, you know when to begin.

That way, you won’t have to harvest your summer crops in the dead of winter. You don’t have to harvest your winter crops in the middle of spring.

If this occurs, you may not receive any harvest at all because plants are extremely sensitive to climatic changes in which they do not belong. Not every plant can survive in every season.
So, if you start at the right time, you can grow all of your plants in their ideal conditions.

07.Select high-quality seeds

Every effort you put into yard-work will be in vain if you don’t get high-quality seeds.
High-quality seeds do not have to be expensive.
The seed label can help you identify high-quality seeds.

Before purchasing seeds, there are a few things you should look for on the label. Do you have any idea what they are?

I have a separate article discussing the facts you should look for on a seed label, what these facts really mean, and how to identify high-quality seeds using these facts on the label.

I recommend you go through the article, “How to Buy the Best Seeds by Reading a Seed Label Correctly” as well, because selecting quality seeds is crucial in this whole process.

Choosing the right plants to grow will save you time and money while also producing amazing results.
