The book carries a lot of attention to the present day due to its presentation of ideas that affect our daily lives. Here are the keynotes from the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Be proactive

In simple words, it is the habit of reacting rather than acting. Proactive people tend to play the leading role. It builds stability, peace, and emotional intelligence in the personality who adopts it. Proactive people do not fear accepting failure they are the one who accepts failures and turns the table with their self-determination and self-belief.

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”

Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

Begin with the end in mind

The whole life of a man is based on the vision. When we start something we have the vision of the destination. That is what keeps us motivated. We can behave immature at many points but when we think about the vision we become more self-determined and passionate about our task. So for every dream vision is the first necessary thing.

“The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight but no vision.”
Helen Keller

Put first things first

The future of anyone can be judged by seeing their daily routine. The discipline and priorities of life are what decide the future. The key to success is discipline and consistency. Every day of our life has equal importance because what we do in the daily routine we exchange our day of life for it. So it is important to set the daily routine and targets and pursue them with rules and regulations.

“Sow a thought, and you reap an act; Sow an act, and you reap a habit; Sow a habit, and you reap a character; Sow a character, and you reap a destiny.” — Samuel Smiles”

Think win-win

Success and achievement belong to those who always have positive vibes. We all play Game of Thrones in our daily lives to get to the top. The success cannot be measured individually, it is measured collectively. Those who not only gain their achievements but also help others to pursue their dreams and goals are the real achievers of success and dreams. Teamwork is necessary for success. Even if one player lacks the intention of winning it becomes difficult for any team to win the game.

Seek first to understand, then to be understood

It is the habit of attentive listening. The largest art or skill of highly successful people is they are active listeners. They listen carefully and then answer the other person. Communication skills are very important in our routine daily life. The listeners do not usually absorb the conversation but are great speakers too. We normally prepare ourselves for questioning while someone is speaking. It is very mature to understand the other and then answer or question according to the conversation.

Synergize

In simple words, it means the effect of two or more people will have a greater effect than the work of an individual. Highly professional and successful people respect others’ opinions and differences. They put forward their opinions but do agree and respect others’ ideas.

“When two brothers are busy fighting, an evil man can easily attack and rob their poor mother. Mankind should always stay united, standing shoulder to shoulder so evil can never cheat and divide them.”
Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

Sharpen the saw

It narrates that one should keep himself up-to-date and should polish his attributes and skills. Stephen Covey describes in his book the four aspects of personality that should be polished according to the needs of the time. The mental, physical, social/emotional, and spiritual.

Physical

Physical exercise is pretty necessary for a healthy body. Only a healthy body can play a vital role in the development of personality.

Mental

The source of mental health is books and knowledge. So we should keep ourselves in touch with reading.

Social

Our social interactions are very necessary for our life. Our social interaction affects our personal lives.

Spiritual

Spirituality is needed in everyone’s life. It motivates us to know what is our purpose in life. Through this quality, we start to believe that we can achieve our goals and destinations.
