Oneplus has been making excellent value for money smartphones since 2014. The value that Oneplus provides with their smartphones is simply incredible Their phones, coupled with flagship Hardware and an Amazing Software, make the overall experience smooth and seamless and I have been using the Oneplus 7 over a year now. Being a power user, I explore every feature of the devices I use and try to get the maximum value. So, I have compiled seven excellent features Oneplus provides with OxygenOS

Oneplus Scout

Oneplus Scout is a new universal search feature and is currently available for Indian users as of now. The Scout lets users search for anything on their phones from the app drawer. This includes contacts, documents, apps, media, and also direct your queries to chrome

With this feature, you can be rest assured to find your missing Aadhaar pdf on your phone in times of need :). If you have access to this feature, do give it a try as this will make your smartphone experience easier

Oneplus Shelf

This is the most underrated feature of OxygenOS and the use cases are endless. Oneplus Shelf comes in handy many times and I am one of the users who use the Shelf extensively

Here are some ways I use Oneplus Shelf for

  • I keep my IDs which have a barcode stored in Oneplus Shelf. This has always helped me in the college library to issue books every time I misplace my ID card
  • Whenever I need to take some short notes, I use the Writer Memo widget for quickly jotting down some notes
  • I use the dashboard widget to look up stats from my phone, recently called contacts widget to quickly call people, Recent Apps widget to access my frequently used apps and I always have a widget of Shazam at the bottom

Overall the shelf is like a quick control center with quick access to your needs. If you use a Oneplus phone and don’t use Oneplus Shelf, It is definitely worth trying

Chromatic Effect in Reading Mode

If you read a lot on your phone, then this little feature might save your day. Smartphone screens emit a lot of blue light and continuously looking at the screen can have an effect on your eyes. So, that’s where reading mode comes into the picture. The reading mode has two options to choose from.

  • Mono Effect: Mono effect completely decreases the saturation and gives a greyscale effect to only focus on what you are reading
  • Chromatic Effect: Chromatic effect offers a more comfortable color reading experience by decreasing the saturation to a level which is easy on the eye

Apart from the chromatic effect, you can configure how the reading mode works for you, You can block peak notifications and have the ability to add apps to the reading mode which automatically turns on upon launching those apps

Vibration Patterns and Intensity

This is a cool feature to have in a smartphone that has a good haptic engine. You can customize the Vibration pattern and the intensity according to your needs. With this feature, I don’t miss any calls when the intensity is set to Strong. This can come in handy if you often miss calls when the phone is in your pocket :)

Quick Launch

Quick Launch allows users to quickly launch a feature(Scanning a QR code) or an app. This feature is a minor tweak but this is very powerful when put to proper use. You can choose from the tons of shortcuts available from your apps like Voice Search, A new note, New Private Tab:), Scan to pay. Take a Nightscape shot and the list goes on depending on how many apps you have installed

FileDash

I used to have a very common problem that every mac + android user has. Sharing files between the two. Even though there are many apps like AnroidFileTransfer that get the job done, it was not seamless and the app is buggy. Filedash is not a Oneplus to Oneplus file sharing service. You can share files from a Oneplus phone to any other device which has the ability to connect to Wifi and has a browser. The experience and the transfer speeds are crazy fast and this has been a great handy feature

Quick Gestures

OxygenOS is a lightweight operating system but It has all the necessary features with minor tweaks that are really handy. Coming to the gestures side of things, it is feature-packed with a lot of gestures like Three-Finger Screenshot, Flip to Mute, Raise to Answer, and many more Screen-off gestures

Some of them include Double-tap to wake, Controlling Music by drawing different patterns, and many more. Most of these gestures can be fully customized accordingly

These are some of my favorite OxygenOS features and I would like to hear what features do you use in your everyday tasks to make life easier
