Buying and reading personal development books will change your life.

Personal development books are so popular among young men. And I know why. It’s because they want to solve their problems.

Here are some of the benefits of reading personal development books:

  • You will improve your self-confidence.
  • You will learn how to approach strangers.
  • You will know your strengths and weaknesses.

Taking action will help you overcome your fear of rejection and here are the 7 powerful lessons I have learned from reading personal development books:

1. Set small goals to gain self-confidence.

Goals will give you a new direction for your life.

But you need to know your dreams. For example, let’s say you want to become a professional writer. You should know what kind of writer you want to be in the future. Do you want to become a journalist, screenwriter, or ghostwriter? Make a plan and specialize at first to gain more confidence in your writing ability.

The best goals will make you a better person.

2. Read classic novels to acquire new ideas.

Classic novels will help you understand how to create a great story.

You just need to observe and listen to the words of your favorite writers. For example, I have learned from Ernest Hemingway the discipline of writing something new every single day. It’s doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad. You need to practice if you want to master your craft.

Successful people love to read fiction because it has interesting ideas.

3. Learn public speaking to overcome your fears.

Public speaking is not about showing off.

It’s about solving a problem for your target audience. For example, let’s say that you want to teach you audience how to overcome their fears through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Creating a presentation and talking to your audience is one of the best way to solve their problems.

Learn public speaking to be seen as a thought leader in your industry.

4. Take more risks to change your life.

Fear is an illusion.

The purpose of fear is to protect you from danger. But you need to face your fears if you want to have more confidence. It’s not about experiencing your own fears, but how you handle it. Successful people don’t let their own fears to stop them from accomplish their dreams. They know that fear is temporary.

You need to know how to handle risk if you want to become successful.

5. Be mysterious to gain power.

I learned this from Robert Greene.

Mysterious people love to observe and listen. They don’t follow the status quo. They have their own set of rules and they are creative.

Don’t show all your cards. Act stupid even if you’re smart.

6. Take notes to remember what you learn.

Taking notes is a great practice.

It will help you understand difficult concepts. Have notebook and pen to take notes. People will perceive you as a great listener if you take notes.

Writing your own ideas will give you clarity.

7. Have a small group of friends.

It’s important to have a group of friends who share your own values.

True friends will accept you for who you are. They don’t care about your past. So get out of your comfort zone.

The best relationship starts with a healthy relationship with yourself.
