Have you ever had a day where you desperately needed to write an article, whether for Medium or for a client, but you feel overwhelmed?

You had a bad day at work or something else happening in your life that was distracting you. I know the feeling!

Or you might be paralyzed by the blank page, not knowing where to start or how to even begin structuring your thoughts. On some days, writing an article can seem paralyzing if you overthink the process.

I write my best when there’s no pressure and my worst when I feel obligated to write an article and I don’t feel like it. Trying to FORCE the ideas to flow often has the opposite effect — you draw a blank.

And if you happen to be fresh out of ideas on a particular day, it’s even harder.

Our brains are wired to resist uncertainty and seek comfort in the familiar. Facing the open canvas can trigger the fight-or-flight response, releasing stress hormones that inhibit creative flow.

Let’s tackle a few tips for vanquishing the blank page jitters and get into writing mode when you feel overwhelmed.
