Many young men suffer from depression and loneliness.

There are many reasons why they are facing these problems. Some parents think it is because of a lack of friends and romantic relationships. In the digital age, it is hard to become a man because all forms of masculinity is considered as toxic. But you need to work hard if you want to gain respect from others.

Success comes from hard work and persistence and here are the 9 harsh truths every young man should know to become successful in the digital age:

1. Never use your illness as an excuse.

I learned this idea from Dr. Jordan B. Peterson.

Successful people don’t complain. They have a bias for action and they make a plan for their goals. Your illness should motivate you to keep pushing forward. Take a rest if you are tired and get back to work to achieve your dreams.

Motivation comes from taking action. It doesn’t come from wishful thinking.

Here are 5 valuable lessons I have learned from Dr. Peterson:

  • Learn how to write if you want to become deadly.
  • Read literature in your free time.
  • Have a great relationship with your family.
  • Share your ideas on social media.
  • Become a monster and learn how to control yourself.

The best thought leaders are not affected by hate. They welcome constructive criticism and they know how to motivate their team.

2. You can’t please everyone and that’s okay.

You don’t need a lot of friends to be happy.

You need friends who will accept you for who you are. If your current friends don’t accept you, ditch them. And sometimes it is better to be alone to figure out what you want in life.

Successful people are not people pleasers.

3. You cannot control how many people will read your work.

In writing, you can control the process not the outcome.

For example, you can write two articles every single day. But you cannot control which of your articles will become popular. So, you should focus on mastery rather than short term goals. After reading famous novels, I have learned that some of my favorite writers have more than eleven years of experience. They also experience rejection and harsh criticism from different readers.

The best writers are storytellers.

4. Rejection is never personal.

Rejection means “I don’t need your product right now” or “You did not pass my standards.”

Successful people know this and this is why they try a lot of things. They know that some of their ideas will not work. And they are persistent.

A great mindset will help you overcome your fear of rejection.

5. Women want comfort and security.

In the past, I could never understand women.

But after watching lectures about psychology and reading books about relationships, I have understood them a little bit. Some women want to have an intelligent man. Other women want a wan who has a sense of humor. And some of them like a confident man.

Women value social status. As a man, you should focus on self-improvement if you want to attract a high-quality woman.

6. There is no failure, only lessons.

I learned this from Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

True failure comes from not trying. If you try a new skill and you make a lot of mistakes, you will understand what doesn’t work. Some people are so scared that they don’t even try. So, be proud of mistakes and accomplishments.

The best lessons will teach you how to solve your own problems.

7. Public speaking is art.

The best public speakers know how to connect to their audience.

They tell personal stories to create a safe environment during their talks. They also do a lot of research to solve valuable problems. So, master public speaking to be seen as an expert.

Read public speaking books to learn the basics and apply what you learn if you want to improve your speaking voice.

8. Teaching is art.

The best teachers are motivational speakers.

They are responsible and courageous. They know the value of hard work. So, teach what you know to young people and they will appreciate your effort.

Successful people have a hunger for learning.

They want to be ahead of their competition.

9. Study human nature to achieve your dreams.

I have learned that people only care about themselves.

This is why you should be honest with yourself. Every human has a dark side. But successful people know to use their dark energy to do important tasks.

Psychology is about knowing how to use your knowledge to solve your own problems.
