They say the future is going to take place tomorrow, but that’s not true. It’s already occurring.

Historically speaking, thus far 3 different industrial revolutions happened, each with groundbreaking and game-changing innovations and new ways to live life. From brand new tools to quick ways to realize a kind of work, to the prominent introduction of the transport means, reaching the widespread creation of calculators, it seems also the 4th wave is coming at a rapid pace.

Chronologically speaking

The last three centuries provide to the world with huge changes not only when it comes to different approaches to the job world, but in humankind's history in general. Whether now almost any of them have become unused through the years, the basic concepts are still widely applied in copious industries. Let’s make a brief rewind about the Three Industrial Revolutions.

  • First: Starting in the 18th Century and lasting up to 1820, the First Industrial Revolution firstly began in Britain, and later on its outputs were spread out all over Europe. Some of its innovative elements covered textile manufacturing, steam power as well as huge enhancements in transporting development.
  • Second: Broadly known as the Technological revolution, this second wave of brand new innovations, began some years after the First, lasting until the First world war outbreak. It brought to life important technological and innovative, all subjected to the electric energy aid. Furthermore, these were the years the internal combustion engine was developed.
  • Third: The one the majority of us have assisted in, the Third Industrial Revolution was characterized by Computer development, making them not only an industrial and closely owned by Company tools, but also owned by the ordinary people. Besides the massive production of the PC, also Digital, Internet inventions, and Nuclear energy discovery have played an important role in the Technology progress.

What is the Technology point today?

It’s undoubtedly that in the last decade technological improvements have dramatically increased, changing not only the prior work paradigms but also the life of all people. Just think of the transition of the Social networks: When they were first released, they were conceived merely as a sharing personal pictures or a way to be in touch with people you haven’t seen in a long time.

By the way, even though their primary features have remained the same, they’ve quickly grown to become also a very important side of the business strategy of a large number of companies.

Are we already assisting the 4th Chapter of Technology?

It seems like we’ve also assisted in the shift from the use of the Computer era to the one characterized by AI, Data analytics, and IoT, just to name a few.

However, these 3 above trends are just a small chunk of the very 4th Industrial Revolution. Let’s list some of the future trends that are going to reshape our life and ways to make Business once again.

  • Ubiquitous computing: Computers are everywhere today, from our pocket to our workplace, through the headquarters of the most important world Companies. Researchers say that the probable next big thing is going to be the Quantum Computing phenomena: powerful and fast calculators that will be capable to perform unreachable tasks today.
  • Everything smart: We already more or less know the IoT field and the innovation it has brought through electronic devices connection. Anyway, it seems this trend is going to be enlarged in the future, not just to digital calculators, but also to anything that can be connected, no matter their distance or size. Eager to know any of them? Think about Smart factories and Smart cities.
  • Datafication: Data have rapidly become a sort of new petrol for almost everybody: from colleges to companies and startups, data are nowadays considered an essential feature from them. They allow to extract knowledge and, based on the output, apply some effective profitable strategies.
  • Extended reality: Firstly introduced just for gaming, extended reality is an umbrella word that covers Virtual reality and Augmented reality. Simply put, these are new strategies to personally try something just by using visors, in order to taste a product or an experience.
  • Digital protection: As the Internet world rapidly got bigger and bigger, there’s also an important need related to our personal data and privacy protection. The insiders clearly stated that the Blockchain is going to be a game-changing technology in the future.
