A Master Plan of Saving 100K+ Hours of Life!

Save time and do more

Time is the most valuable and underrated thing that is neglected by most human beings. I’ve become more protective about time after watching a video of Casey Neistat. Also, I got some ideas from Ali Abdaal’s youtube videos. I’m a tech person who sits behind his desk almost 12 hours a day. Here is the list of operations that save a lot of time!

  • Use Cursor Highlighter: It may seem weird but people who use computers for their job purpose, mostly face this issue. Very often we lose the cursor and move the mouse to find it. It just takes a second to find it but it creates two things that need to be considered.
  • It breaks our concentration and makes us defocused.
  • The amount of time wasted due to finding this may be 5 mins a day, but it’s 2281 hours if you work for 30 years.
  • You can highlight your cursor with some color you like. I would prefer yellow for the smoothness of the eyes. If you don’t know how to change the cursor, you can check out this video
  • Use Social Media While You Poop: An average person spends 5840 hours pooping in their lifetime. And the fact is, you can’t regulate this time. It’s a waste of time that you can’t save. But you can use this alternatively. You can challenge yourself to use social media only when you’re pooping.
An average people use social media this much time. You can save 6 years and 8 months by just using your phone while pooping!
  • Learn When Traveling: Most of us listen to music when we do travel. Does it ever happen to you that you got bored of listening? I’m sure, it happened to you sometimes. There is a very productive solution to this. You can learn a language, visit art museums, learn programming when you’re traveling. Sounds weird? Let me explain. There are a bunch of underrated apps that are ready to teach you new things for free such as Duolingo, Programming Hero, Google Arts & Culture. From knitting to programming, you can learn almost everything if you can find the right app for you.
  • Wear Selective Clothes: Did you notice that Steve Jobs, Mark Zukerberg, Bill Gates, and most of the billionaires don’t give their attention to their clothes? It’s because they are protective about their time. Choosing clothes kills a lot of time, and they can do more things by using that time. An average human being spends 287 days in front of their wardrobe. Who doesn’t want to save that 287 days?
  • Ditch 8 Hours Sleep Routine: I know we need 8 hours of sleep. I’m not a medical person but I oppose the idea of 8 hours. You can be operational if you sleep 6 hours. That can save you 22,000 hours in the next 30 years! Most people do fine with 6 hours of sleep unless they’re under any special medication.
  • Watch The Video Without Watching: Don’t get me wrong here, it’s not recommended for every video you watch. Some of the videos such as book review or, TedTalk doesn’t require to be seen. So, you can play them and do the daily chores that save you a good amount of time.
  • Watch YouTube Videos at 2x Speed: I know it’s hard but not as hard as you think. You can start with watching videos at 1.25x speed and increase it gradually.
An average person spends 7650 hours on youtube in 30 years. It can be reduced to 3825 hours if you can watch at 2x speed. Saving 3825 hours of your life!

The whole plan may seem crazy, remember that once Steve Jobs said “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes … the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. … You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things. … They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do”.
