A Palm Reader Predicted I’d Die Young and It Turned My World Upside Down

Do the lines on your hand actually tell you the age you are going to die?

While some claim the lines in our palms hold the secrets to our future, life, and personality, I take it with a grain of salt. Pardon my skepticism but after observing disastrous outcomes and severe emotional distress caused by encounters with so-called fortune tellers, I would say it is nothing akin to the romance and delicious mystery popularized in books.

Quite the opposite in fact.

Take, for example, the first expert who ‘read’ my palms — who was more interested in staring at my chest than looking at the lines of my hand. No wonder nothing he foretold came true. He made some random predictions based on tells — or rather on who he perceived me to be.

Okay, one could argue that the palmist was a bad egg in the basket. But how about the next few?

The second person was a spinster, not by choice, who got into the whole palm reading thing to get a handle on why no one was marrying her. But more about this character later.
