People start initiatives or pursue ambitions for a variety of reasons, many of which never materialize. Frequently, it has nothing to do with being unmotivated or lazy. Timing and logistics are often concerns. Personal situations can occasionally interfere.

Fortunately, there are a number of useful tactics you can use when trying to finish a task, project, or goal. Here are some strategies that have worked well for me.

Starting Is Easy

A lot of people say that the hardest part of any endeavor is just getting started. “Well started is half done,” and “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

This isn’t an entirely absurd thing to say, but it would be disingenuous to suggest that it can be a little intimidating to begin something. But how does that compare to seeing something through completely?

Uf.

A project’s launch might be exhilarating. It’s brimming with opportunities. It is entirely fresh. It can even be a little exciting to start something like a new diet or an exercise regimen. The tedium or challenges that come next, however, are what most people stumble over.
