I’m 35 and unmarried.

Marriage has never been a priority for me.

Honestly, I’ve never given it much thought.

But for my social circle, it’s the hottest gossip topic.

It’s like a free pass to ridicule, mock or make me feel a loser or inferior.

First it was about education, then my career and now marriage — This won’t stop until I become grandpa it seems.

Seriously, I don’t give a damn.

And I hardly care about my perception in their eyes.

Till now, I have been asked about marriage a million times.

Some assume I’m already in a relationship.

For some I’m a playboy.

A few keep guessing my next move, like it’s a game.

Many have confidently predicted my single fate.

Social gatherings have become interrogation rooms for me.

The moment I enter a room full of known people, I’m bombarded with questions about my plans.

Mentally harassed over my personal choices.

They are desperate to know my wedding plans or whether I’ve dropped the idea of marriage.

Glad they haven’t declared me a gay yet (though I hardly care about the gossip and rumor mills)

The uncles and aunties just want me to crack under the peer pressure.

They want to read my mind as they are desperately seeking answers & waiting for me to puke my plans bare.

Here’s the truth just to make things clear:

I might be a misfit in their eyes, but I’m perfectly fine with who I am.
I’m unique in my own way.

Yes! I will get married when I meet the right person. (Nobody has to worry about it even if I stay single for life)

I’ve plenty of things to deal with and worry about (marriage is the last thing to be honest)

What really excites me nowadays or how I like to spend my days or what keeps me busy? Read more to know this…

I start my day with a hot tea.

Then I journal in my diary.

Then read for a while before I start writing.

If I have a free time — I read.

More free time — I mindlessly scroll or binge-watch my favorite shows

Some days I do nothing & just overthink,

Procrastinate

Get overwhelmed

The struggle is endless.

I Struggle to focus.

I Struggle to stay organized.

I Struggle to meet deadlines.

My mind is on a mental marathon round the clock

I go through so much in a single day.

I’m so obsessed with a million things

There are Books

There are Movies/Shows

There is YouTube

Social Media

My work

Journaling

Goals

Deadlines

All the above keep me busy, disturbed, distracted, motivated, overwhelmed & drained etc

Every second I juggle a million thoughts.

I’m not complaining nor do I want anyone to understand me.

This is a rant.

For the nosy folks around me.

Marriage is the last thing on my mind.

One day, sure — I’d love to get married.
But not today.
Not now.

I’ve got too much on my plate.
Too much to deal with.
Too much to figure out.

Taking extra interest in my personal life will only piss me off but won’t change me.

I live life on my own terms.

I take decisions that are motivated by happiness, not by societal pressure.

I live to satisfy my soul, not to impress or satisfy the society.

The End
