A Tribute To Love
A Meditation on Agape
Do you love your brothers and sisters
while their hurt is making them grow weak?
Can you understand their love and allow them to speak?
Are your differences set aside and your heart opened to their need?
If you can answer “Yes,”
then indeed you are freed!
Is your love a kindly blessing with gentleness and caring words?
A mellow sound you’d wish to hear,
A soft aroma you’d stop to savor, A love to quench all fear and gain all favor,
Is it really so absurd this sound I have heard?
People love another when they understand and care.
Sorrow is a tragedy without someone there who cares!
Love can heal all wounds and mend all broken dreams!
It builds the strongest bridges, It trains the strongest teams.
It can be bent out of shape and pop right back!
Muster its strength to tighten its slack
And show mercy at the hardest times!
It can be misunderstood, overlooked,
But still it perseveres!
And sometimes though its undercooked
And filled with silly fears, it is still there!
Awaiting its time for fertile growth,
When it suddenly shoots up as a newborn plant,
And someday grows firm and strong!
Hatreds dwindle in their time,
Anger loses all its force,
Sorrow passed as a summer storm!
Seasons change,
and the face of time itself seems strange!
Eras come and go, kingdoms rise and fall,
Then today becomes the ancient past!
Still people fail to see the powerful truth!
In this world only love will last!
