I’ve struggled with sporadic bouts of insomnia since I was a teenager, so it’s no surprise that I’m writing this article at 3 a.m. As much as I try not to invite social media into bed, I just stumbled across a viral TikTok video that perfectly explains, in under fifteen seconds, why I’ve struggled to sleep my entire life.
You might think this would come as a relief. Having the answers could help me absolve my chronic restlessness, after all. But even after rewatching it for the fifth time, the information is still just as startling as it is true and now, I can’t sleep thinking about it.
