Ad infinitum

A poem

Hamna Labeeb
ILLUMINATION

--

The spark has turned to smoke again -

I am a ruin
of explosive love.

I seek a salve
for my trembles.

The heart quivers like a pipal leaf,
the breaths shallower by the moment.

The guts recoil, tightly so.
The heart is in the throat, choking me.

I wept
because the little precious things
nullified the bigger world
when they took the sidewalk
in the long journey.

Glittery memories joined the stars —
farther in my loneliness.

I am a ruin
of explosive love —

Ad infinitum.
