Last year, I turned 50 and started to feel more pain in my body after exercising.

I was squatting, and my lower back started hurting.

This year, my elbow started to hurt when I did tricep extensions. I haven’t stopped doing this exercise yet, but I probably will.

As you get older, your body will quietly tell you to stop doing certain exercises.

Maybe that’s why you see older adults spend more time on machine weights than free weights.

In a video, former Olympian Arnold Schwarzenegger, who used to lift hundreds of pounds with free weights, was using machine weights.

Schwarzenegger is 77 years old and past his Olympic lifting days.

He still exercises, but not with heavy weights. Schwarzenegger also uses machine weights, which are easier on his joints.

You see, as you get older, your body changes.

Lifting heavy weights you did in your 20s isn’t recommended in your 50s.
