This week, Apple unveiled two innovative health features integrated into their devices: the Apple Watch will soon possess the ability to detect potential signs of sleep apnea, and the AirPods Pro 2 will offer functionalities akin to hearing aids for those experiencing hearing impairments.

Jeff Williams, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, elaborated in his inaugural interview regarding these updates, revealing how Apple’s journey into the health sector — initially rooted in fitness — has gradually expanded. He stated that Apple will continue to “pull on the threads” of health technology. Presently, Apple’s devices are capable of monitoring heart and respiratory rates, tracking menstrual cycles, analyzing body temperature, conducting electrocardiograms (ECGs), observing sleep patterns, and detecting falls. They also function as comprehensive fitness platforms. Williams hinted at further growth, saying, “With so many individuals carrying our devices, we see this as both an opportunity and possibly a moral duty to further delve into health innovation. We don’t know the final destination, but we’re merely at the onset of this expedition.”
