It is not an overstatement to say that introversion has got a bad rap in our culture. At first glance, it always seems antithetical to what a good, healthy personality is, or at least should be.

If extroversion means being energized by the company of others, then introversion must mean the opposite (read: boring and antisocial).

If extroversion is synonymous with upbeat, outgoing, high self-esteem, and confidence then introversion must mean the opposite (read: slow, apathetic, low self-esteem, and lack of confidence.)

💡 Fortunately, nothing could be farther from the truth.

If anything I believe the lack of confidence that many introverts experience is due to the way we perceive ourselves as being viewed and judged, not an inherent personality flaw. (But that’s a story for another day)

So the question is, given these qualities which the world sees as diametrically opposed, is it possible for an introvert, even one that is on the far end of the spectrum, to be driven, confident, and a go-getter?

The answer is a resounding yes. 👌🏽 👌🏽

I believe it is possible to be a hard-working, empathetic, ambitious, introverted go-getter with a strong desire to make a positive difference in the world.
