In a rush to attend the launch of Apple BKC, I forgot to carry my wired earphones but little did I know before stepping out of my house that it was the least worrisome of my problems. Oh yes, by the way, Apple did open its very first store in India today in Mumbai and no, this is not a promotional post because Apple doesn’t pay bloggers to cover their store launches — we do it ourselves. But seriously, I should have checked Google Maps before I left home.

As soon as I was on my Uber ride, I realized I had made a mistake. Traveling in the central line on a weekday is no piece of cake. The 34KM journey which showed 75 mins on Google Maps ended up becoming a 90-minute ride. While frantically scrolling through the latest tweets of #AppleBKC on Twitter to see if Tim Cook had already arrived for the opening (and secretly wishing he would get late too because of the traffic), my heart was skipping beats. I had waited for the opening of this store for four years now. Anticipating its launch since the first rumor in 2019, when I was in my first year of college.

It wasn’t my first Apple Store — in fact, the only two Apple Stores I have been to in the past were the Apple Park Visitor’s Center and the Apple Store in Infinity Loop (Super Flex mood) but this one in BKC was still special because it was the first Apple Store in my country and to be more precise in my hometown — Mumbai!
