According to Ming-Chi Kuo (72.5% accurate), Apple is changing there line-up’s status to feature USB-C in all of there lighting-port devices such as :

  • Airpods Pro
  • Airpods base models
  • Magic Keyboard
  • Magic Mouse (Hopefully they will change the location of the port as well)
  • Trackpad
  • MagSafe Battery Pack

“Other Lightning port products (e.g., AirPods, Magic Keyboard/Trackpad/Mouse, MagSafe Battery) would also switch to USB-C in the foreseeable future,” Kuo says

This makes sense as Apple has been receiving a lot of heat about this topic from the EU Government recently by telling them that they will have to remove lighting by 2023.

This can be backed up by Kuo again who states that from surveys in the supply chain, he has learned that it is likely Apple will abandon the controversial Lightning connector, he also says that it is due to proposed EU regulations, Apple could be forced to switch to USB-C for the 2023 iPhone.

Be warned though, we have heard countless reports of a non-lighting iPhone for years so don’t keep your spirits too high.
