Apple India Online Store Student Discount Prices Revealed
Check out the prices for the new Macs and iPads from the Apple India Online Store that went live today (23 September).
Apple has joined hands with UniDays, a discount company for students worldwide, which provides verification services for University students, professors, and such. This is the same way how Apple UK works too, to verify buyers for special educational discounts, shopping under ‘Shop for education’.
I am a Postgraduate student in India, and so I got verified with UniDays to view the special pricing for the Macs and the iPads. The process to verify is fairly simple given that your college is listed under UniDays’ list of colleges and have an institution mail ID.
MacBook Air
The base 2020 MacBook Air (1.1GHz dual-core Intel Core i3, Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz, with 4MB L3 cache, 256GB SSD) starts at ₹83,691 which is priced at ₹92,990 without any discounts.
The 2020 MacBook Air with 1.1GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz, with 6MB L3 cache, 512GB SSD starts at ₹1,10,691 which is priced at ₹1,22,990 without any discounts.
Further customizations/upgrades are also available with discounts compared to the usual MRP price.
MacBook Pro 13-inch
The base MacBook Pro 13-inch with the 8th generation Intel processor, which has got a maximum retail price of ₹1,22,990 has got a discount of ₹12,299 (i.e. 10%) and priced at ₹1,10,691.
The 2020 MacBook Pro with the 10th generation Intel processor is starting at ₹1,57,410 with university discounts (10%) which is actually priced at ₹1,74,900.
MacBook Pro 16-inch
In a similar fashion, the MacBook Pro 16-inch has also got special education/student discount. The 2020 MacBook Pro 16-inch that retails for ₹199,900 has got a 10% discount and got an educational price of ₹179,910.
In a similar fashion, every Mac product such as Mac Mini, iMac Pro, Mac Pro, ProDisplay XDR comes with a 10% discount. Also, several MacBook and iMac models such as the base 13-inch MacBook Pro and iMacs also have an option to include Pro Bundle Apps for Education for free.
iPad Price Comparison
The flat 10% off discount rule is not applicable to the iPads. Different iPads have different discount rates and the following table shows the price comparison.
All iPad Pro models (both 11-inch and 12-inch) attracts a flat discount of 5% as a student/professor discount. Hence, I did not list the prices of cellular models. It can be easily calculated by multiplying the M.R.P with 0.95.
