Plagiarism has been on my mind ever since I wrote a story about it for editors of Medium publications. The story was titled “Checking for Plagiarism — How to detect plagiarism by your writers and avoid getting sued.”

Plagiarism on Medium may, more often than not, be due to copying something and forgetting to rephrase it. But mistakes aren’t excuses. So, I try to be careful to put my own writing in my own words and not get myself, my editor, and Medium sued.

Sometimes, I also google some of my story titles to see if they show up somewhere other than on Medium. Today, I found this:

My plagiarized story posted on X

This is my story, “The Trump Era May Be Over!,” copied and pasted into X by a woman who describes herself as “Maria Luisa Ceo @gominerx & US — Forex CIO.” It’s my entire story, word for word. No credit to me. No link to Medium.

Take a good look at Maria Luisa, the plagiarist who doesn’t even know that “CEO” is capitalized and that the United States is abbreviated “U.S.” not “US.”
