School Memoirs
As an AI Student, I’m Somewhat Terrified of AI Yet Remain Optimistic
The Wishing Well and Cautionary Tale: How Fairy-Tale Ideas Might Turn Into the End of Humanity If Not Controlled Well
Starting with the Theory and Fairy Tale
My first introduction to artificial intelligence was when I started learning about the theories and exciting parts of it in high school. For example, in 2018, as self-driving cars were gaining popularity, so I decided to create a simple one for my final project at school, as shown in the cover photo. It gave me a lot of pleasure and hope at that time, and I kept learning more.
However, little did I know that in a few years, AI would become so accessible and more advanced, reaching masses through cheap robots.
For example, who could have imagined that we would get access to amazing AI models, such as ChatGPT and Gemini, developed by tech giants, just two years later?
My fear deepened after seeing many cybersecurity issues globally generated by accessible bots powered with advanced language models. There isn’t a single day we don’t hear about cybercrime somewhere in the globe now.
