ILLUMINATION

Choking back breath
something stuck to my fingers
hitting random keys
as if the stroke were the thing
to get at
Here on this suffocating hill
elms ash & cow birds
witness to more dysfunction
But the face is not covered
not willing towards the peace
of the smile
Tossed in an ocean of confusion
the shapes & the cheeks
submit to their own illness
