Definitions

First, let’s establish what an atheist is and what religion means. When I use these words here, I’m using the dictionary definition as given in Webster’s Dictionary.

Here’s What the Webster’s Online Dictionary Says Atheism Means

1 a: a lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods
b: a philosophical or religious position characterized by disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods
2 archaic: godlessness, especially in conduct
:ungodliness, wickedness

[French athéisme, from athée, atheist, from Greek atheos, godless : a-, without; see A-1 + theos, god; see dhēs- in the Appendix of Indo-European roots.]

Here’s What the Dictionary Says Religion Means

1 a. The belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers, regarded as creating and governing the Universe: respect
