Be a Fountain, Not a Drain!
What Type of Leader are you?
Let’s be honest with ourselves. Whatever hierarchy you are in your Organization — let’s take a step back and think to ourselves.
How do you feel when your manager is around you at your workplace?
Are you feeling pumped up and full of energy (or) do you feel nervous or drained when your manager is around you?
Let me share my personal experience. I must admit that I have worked with both types, and I am sure most of you did.
Let me explain both types:
1 — A few made me nervous, instilled fear, deprived me of confidence, took away all my energy, and destroyed my hope. My performance went down, and I could not focus or learn things at work (the initial days of my career onboard ships). I counted my days at work and celebrated the day I got off the ship or my workplace.
2 — On the other side, I was fortunate to work with a few who empowered and nurtured my skills, allowed me to handle responsibilities, and coached me on my errors. I used to love working with them, and every minute at work was a celebration.
Type 1 is a “Drain” that sucks away everything from you.
Type 2 is a “Fountain” that makes you energetic and enthusiastic.
