Becoming a Go-Getter
Step Out of Your Comfort
Explore the World
One of the best decisions I took for myself was solo travelling.
Since last year I decided not to be scared anymore and do it. As a result, It was one of the best things I did for myself.
My mental health improved, I feel more confident about myself now, and someone recently described me as a “Go Getter”, which I thought was quite interesting.
I’d never been much into travelling before last year. However, I wanted to get out of the daily routine. It was killing me. I was desperate to go out, explore, meet new people and enjoy life. I felt my life was passing by without me doing anything at all.
The first time I decided to travel alone, I was scared, but it didn't feel bad at all once I got out of my house. It was quite the opposite; I loved it.
You meet so many people on the road, and some even tell their stories; it makes you realize how big the world is and how you should not worry too much and enjoy and appreciate life.
An Old Friend
Yesterday something happened.
I met a solo traveller I’ve followed for quite some time. I found her on youtube a few months back when I did my first Solo Trek to Annapurna Base Camp.
It helped me on the road, and I was amazed and inspired by how she did these solo treks alone in Nepal.
Meeting her yesterday, I geeked out a bit and had a fan moment and told her how I watched many of her videos and how it helped me out when I started.
I realized how similarly we thought about different things, from health to travelling and our lives with healthy habits with a balance. It felt great meeting someone who is also a Go Getter.
I remember when I saw her videos for the first time; I asked myself, “How come, someone your age is doing this, and you are too scared to do it although you want to?
At that moment, I decided; I would always face my fears.
Fears are in your mind, but the risk is not as significant.
Fears exist because you have made yourself too comfortable. Fears that feel warm and cosy but eat you away each passing day. I decided to face them all head-on and never go back.
Wind of Change
It's always fun to watch big-time YouTubers or Travellers' videos, but when you meet someone who is also starting slowly. You begin to appreciate them more because there is something about them you find so relatable, organic, and raw.
You feel you can relate to them and have a great conversation.
It was one of those conversations I had with her. I was moved, so I had to come back and write it here.
When artists, musicians, and travellers get too famous many of them lose some quality about themselves.
It's difficult to relate to them, and they feel like an old friend who you rarely talk to or have moved on from each other's lives because you cannot relate any longer.
However, few of these people, even when famous and followed by a broad world audience, don’t change. They maintain and connect with their audience from the early days and don’t change. I love these sorts of artists. I hope she also becomes one of those people.
If you are planning a Trek to Nepal, here’s a video by her on Annapurna Base Camp Trek.
