Behind the wheel: my first day as a DoorDash driver
I heard about DoorDash from a friend of mine who lost his job and is using this app for some income that could take care of his expenses. I had known about this app but had never been keen on using it. However, on hearing it from my friend, I logged into this app and had my first experience as a DoorDash driver yesterday. In this post, I want to share my experience of being behind the wheel as a DoorDash driver.
Why DoorDash for me
I work in IT as an architect and had to quit my last gig to take time off to handle a death in the family. Since coming back, it has been a challenge to get a gig. However, I am definitely grateful for taking care of the regular expenses through my spouse’s job, rental properties, trading options, stock, and crypto investments. Since I was in between projects and was doing interviews, I checked out to see if this app could replace some of the job income that I had lost.
Application process
The whole process was seamless to become a DoorDash driver. I downloaded the app and filled in my personal information such as SSN, details of the car that would be used to deliver, the bank account where they could directly deposit my earnings, etc. I also uploaded my driver's license and signed some agreements. In 2 days, the application was approved. A customer service professional was assigned to me and was motivating me to go for the first dash to receive the welcome kit — a DoorDash bag and a Red Card…
