Being decent isn’t that hard

We just need to be kind and have positive regard

For not just others but firstly ourselves

Without the fear of non-acceptance as we delve

Deeper into our consciousness and overcome

The hidden emotions frozen and numb

That somehow we might not be good enough

This taps into our core self stuff

It hurts to hate the self like this

Like nobody ever messes up, but that all goes amiss

As we focus on our own flaws and faults

Do we then attack ourselves or others in assault?

We forget that in some way we are all struggling

With life and its demands, we are all juggling

The good and the bad, in public and private

Internally fighting against our own disquiet

So come one and all, let’s stop this haranguing

Let’s calm our thoughts that are so loud and clanging.

Allow the silence of peace to emerge
