Bill Maher, Trump Played You.
I’m a Bill Maher fan. Despite his air of arrogance, I appreciate that he punches both sides with fair criticisms. He’s a smart guy but Trump played him for a fool. Because Trump is willfully calculating, and unknowingly a malignant narcissist.
MAGAs high fived the Trump-Maher dinner. Progressives were pissed.
Me. I’m fascinated. And I’m progressive.
My husband and I watched Maher’s monologue about the dinner on his Real Time show. Twice.
Bill reported his honest impressions. No matter how much he knew saying anything positive about Trump would make liberals clench.
My take after listening is that Bill got played. Big time. Only he doesn’t know it (more likely he does but won’t admit it).
Maher reports that Trump has shit talked him 60 times over the years, things like, “stupid, dummy, low-life dummy, sleazebag, sick, sad, stone-cold crazy. Really a dumb guy, fired like a dog, his show is dead.”
But at the dinner Bill said Trump was not that guy. And I believe it.
Trump was pleasant, funny, charming, self aware (admitted to the 2020 loss), didn’t interrupt (despite being warned by Kid Rock that if he wants to get a word in he’ll have to politely interrupt). Trump didn’t get defensive.
