5 Proven Strategies to Ace Your Campus Placements and Land Your Dream Job
Note: This article is for CS Students.
Campus placements are excellent ways for freshmen to acquire a career while still in college. They provide a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their abilities and chart a successful professional path. Securing an on-campus offer is easier because the competition is only within the college, as opposed to off-campus, where we compete with seniors, our batch, and individuals with 1–2 years of experience all battling for the same slot.
While it may appear that securing a position is simple, it is not. People tend to miss out on this excellent opportunity to earn a full-time job if sufficient planning is not put in place.
Listed here are some strategies to boost your chances of getting hired. Let’s go this bread, shall we?
I cannot stress enough how crucial it is to have a LinkedIn account. Recruiters also request that LinkedIn accounts be included in the resume. Being on LinkedIn not only establishes your online presence but also allows recruiters to view all of your talents and accomplishments. You can also personally interact with recruiters and uncover various career opportunities that are presented on a daily basis. LinkedIn also offers Free certificates, that might also help you upskill yourself.
You can Connect with like-minded people and can also contact working professionals in the firm you want to work, for and inquire about their experiences with that particular company’s recruitment process; this will increase your chances of getting employed in that company. So, if you don’t already have an account on LinkedIn, create one now.
GitHub
GitHub is another essential, that is gradually becoming mandatory to possess. Recruiters nowadays want you to link your GitHub profile in your resume so that they can take a look at it and determine how serious you are. It is determined by how frequently you visit that platform and the contributions you made to it.
I’m not saying that you have to do the project and post it right now. No. Whatever code you write, even if it’s just a basic addition of two integers, publish it to your profile. That’s all.
If you desire more, you can gradually get into open source contributing too. You can also get a variety of resources for your mini or major project on there!!
if you want to deeply understand what is github? why github? how to contribute to it and also how to contribute to open source, just leave a comment and ill surely make another article about it.
Concise Resume
Having a clean and concise resume is the Key factor in getting hired. Even if you lack any of the aforementioned qualifications, a strong resume can get you to places. A resume should be no more than two pages long. You should clearly identify your career objective, educational background, talents, projects, experiences, and accomplishments. These are required to be stated on your Resume. To make one, all you need is Microsoft Word.
Still not sure how to make one? I’m attaching a resume structure that has been accepted by companies such as Adobe, Morgan Stanley, and Infosys.
Be On Coding Platforms:
Being on coding platforms such as LeetCode, Hackerrank, Codechef, and others is beneficial. It not only improves your coding skills, but it also serves as proof of your knowledge base and shows recruiters that, indeed, you can get the required job done. As a result, strive to build your portfolio on such platforms.
Chatgpt:
Here comes our ai bestie chatgpt. You can use chatgpt to not only answer your questions but there are other prompts you can use to make chatgpt act like your interviewer and ask you questions about the interview you are about to give based on the position!!
Example: Assume you’re going to be interviewed for the position of a junior software engineer. So you can ask chatgpt anything like this.
“Hey gpt, I’m applying for the position of junior software engineer. I possess [the skills that you have stated in your resume] these skills. may you serve as an interviewer and give me questions to expect in my interview?”
It will give you a list of questions that you can expect to be asked during your interview. As a result, you may prepare for your interviews more thoroughly.
That concludes this post. Hope you enjoyed reading it! See you all in the next one.
