Breakfast

I wrote this piece in a writing class but I didn’t have time to share it in class.

It’s nothing life changing or profound. It’s about a typical morning/breakfast routine I have. This article isn’t anything crazy but it seemed wasteful to just shove it in my files. If you like reading about people’s morning routines then this is for you!

I’m usually dizzy. I don’t sleep well.

Breakfast is far down my list of morning activities but not for Ruby. Ruby loves breakfast. So much so that she’s more than willing to claw my face and bite my toes to wake me up.

I work at night. I’m usually dizzy when I wake up at 8 am but there are duties beyond myself that require my physical form to be present. So, I get out of bed. I smell like I was just dipped in oil and sauteed in a pan. I’m a waiter. Most nights I’m far too tired to shower after work and I have to be up to feed Ruby in a few hours.

She screams at me and claws at me, but I love her.

Next on the list is my brain. My brain is addicted to caffeine and nicotine. I stumble to the coffee shop and fulfill my…
