Brief Conversations with the Elevator
You have the most welcoming gesture — opening your arms wide open every time we meet.
As you box me and wait for instructions, I am searching for my destination among the different options you provide- each with a different journey.
I enjoy both the directions as I experience my body differently on each; details are in the laws of physics.
Sometimes I am lucky to ride you solo; at times I have extremely conscious people around. It is like everyone has a “lift face”.
My favorite has always been the fart joke — what if someone farts and turns you into a gas chamber?
But, my olfactory senses have experienced trapped fragrances too; the ones I will never identify.
When I am the last person to enter, you give me a quick spotlight. Unfortunately, people don’t think it is cool when I am towering them.
Anyway, my floor has reached.
