Broken Shoes
Others Have It Hard, Too . . .

My shoes are covered with mud.
They’ve gone wetter with tears and blood.
An island so alluring,
one cannot think it hides a tsunami.
I wanted the shoes of the island.
I did not know it’s just coal in a diamond.
I could see their shoes glimmering.
And they could see the same in mine.
But I realized they were shivering.
And so was I.
I bleed and the world sees.
They bleed and I don’t see.
Because my blood flows out.
But they . . . they blood internally.
