Building a Niche Site: What I’ve Done Achieved So Far
Update #1 | Day 24
Since I posted an update about my new niche site, I thought why not prepare some content for Medium as well? To be honest, I’ve been slacking off a lot.
I thought about starting the 100 Articles in 100 Days Challenge on Medium, but unfortunately, my procrastination won’t help me get anywhere near the challenge. (NOT ANY TIME SOON)
Anyways, back to the main topic.
Niche Research:
After creating, ranking, and flipping tons of blogs, I decided to create another one (cause that’s what bloggers do, right?). This time I decided to try my luck in the very popular, and highly saturated niche.
If you’re from Twitter then yes you’ve guessed it right, PETS!
Now, since I always advise my audience to go for micro-niches so how can I turn back from my own words? When targeting Pets, I went with Rabbits. This is because they’re cute and I’ve always had a thing for bunnies.
But that doesn’t mean I skipped the research part. I carried out a detailed niche analysis by using Semrush.
And fortunately, I found a lot of low-hanging fruits (keywords) that can be targeted easily without putting in a lot of effort. So I created a list of around 50+ keyword ideas with an intention to cover these in the first month.
Keyword Research:
For keyword ideas, my main target was to go for:
- Low keyword difficulty
- Ideal Search Volume: 200 >
- Informational intent
After picking up my query, I further researched it to create keyword clusters. Well, the keyword research part was easy, thanks to the filters in keyword research tools.
Content:
As usual, I prepared the content all by myself. My #1 priority before writing a blog post is to analyze the competition. Most of the writers do that to simply re-write what’s already available on Google.
However, the thing is if you want to rank #1 on SERPs then you have to give something “unique” to Google.
Analyze your competitors, and understand what they’re lacking. Use their shortcomings to your advantage,
Posting Schedule:
It’s been 24 days and guess what? I’ve only published 14 posts. But this time it's not procrastination. I’ve been quite busy with my programming projects (Which must be surprising, but I also work as a developer for a reputable firm).
Results:
Here you’ll find some screenshots to understand what’s going on with this new sidekick of mine.
Earnings:
Unfortunately, zero. I haven’t monetized this site yet. However, since you’ve joined me on this roller-coaster ride soon we’ll be discussing the monthly earnings report as well! Wish me luck, mates.
Key Takeaways:
- Find a niche where you can make yourself some space.
- Find low-competition keywords. Start with informational content first.
- Publish content regularly, at least one post a day.
- Don’t rush yourself with Ads, monetization, and stuff.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post. If yes then make sure to check out my newsletter, and also follow me on Twitter.
