Oh, C. Rex 3 —
someone announced yesterday
that you control the Kingdom.
Please tell us you refuse
and plan to give
the whole game up.
No cascade of tomorrows
will ever drown your feelings
of loss, of losing, of
not being equal to challenges
facing those in charge —
given only to the strong.
Is there a Gleaming
Guilded Platform
for an empty, spoiled,
bratty British boy
who filled
the holes
in his own heart
with the indignities of others?
You spent untold decades
locking sad secrets away —
Won’t this surely be
your legacy?
