Whether narcissists can truly learn to develop genuine empathy has been a common question among the victims of narcissistic abuse. The victims are often in a fix on whether to wait or ditch that abusive relationship & move on for a fresh healthy start.

But as I always say, it’s never black & white with human behavior. There’s always scope for gray.

Narcissism and the Erosion of Empathy

A classic trait of Narcissism is a lack of concern for others’ emotions, which we call Empathy Erosion.

I believe the word “erosion” plays a crucial role in understanding how narcissism is instilled within a person over time. People are not born narcissists or mad overnight, the programming happens over the years.
