The assault of salt
Let’s start with the story of the king that I remember from my childhood.
The king had three daughters and he asked each of them how much they loved him.
The eldest daughter replied she loved the king more than rubies, and the second eldest replied she loved the king as much as sweetmeats and sugar.
The king was most pleased with the answer of his two eldest daughters.
The youngest daughter answered she loved the king as much as salt.
The king was not impressed; he banished the youngest daughter from the kingdom.
While banished, some time passed, and the princess met a prince. Now, he became friendly with the king. The banished princess married this prince, and the prince invited the king to stay at his palace for four nights.
The princess recognized her father, but because of the passing of time, he did not recognize her. She made dinner for the king, and she left the salt out of his meal. The king struggled through the emal on the first night. She did so again, on the second and third evening, serving him tasteless food lacking salt.
