While the world is trying to stagger back to normalcy after the COVID situation and some still trapped in its snare, there are some universal issues that still silently creep into our daily lives.

May 28th is celebrated as World Menstrual Hygiene Day every year.

This year on this day I won a poetry recitation organised by the Rotary and Rotaract along with other NGO’s working on these issues.

Here is the short video of my recitation. Hope you all like and expect a lot of comments and reviews. LOL.

The biological phenomenon of menstruation is what makes a woman different from a man. This natural process of ovulation is the reason that our species keeps surviving through generations.

Unfortunately, this very biological boon of a woman is twisted into a fact to put her in a subjective position or make her into secondary sex. The Other.

If we focus on India alone, the society below the creamy elite still suffers the burn of this separateness. It turns the natural phenomenon into a reason for subjugation and dependence.

Living in Asian society as women where menstruation is still in most places a topic of embarrassment and even taboo is a matter of compromise in her essential needs of hygiene and safety.

The global prosperity in every sector of our lives still doesn’t seem to reach out to some remote issues and areas. These women keep going on silently bearing, rearing, suffering and even dying due to this ignorance and negligence.

The need of the hour is for every woman to reach these underprivileged or neglected women around them and open them to a chance for easy access to essential health provisions and facilities.

Happy reading and listening. Be safe. Keep living in a positive way. Best wishes from-
