Changing Careers Can Be Challenging
Getting Back to The Work I love
I’m taking a big step today.
I’m leaving my last career and attempting to go back to my old career, which is a huge challenge.
Am I up for it?
You bet.
Years ago, I left my formal journalism job and became a freelance writer. After that, I became an author. I wrote several books even though I never had that ambition. I won’t go into that part of my life here. If you want to know more about it, you can find me on Amazon.
But I have always loved freelancing. I loved every new assignment. It was joyous to do deep research, interview people, sometimes go on location, and turn in my assignment for review.
It was less like work, always fun and a challenge instead. Each assignment was an exploration into a new part of life. Often one I knew nothing about.
I wrote for several clients, including Truthdig.com. Things changed with them after a while, and my old editors are no longer there. It happens, but I loved writing for them.
Freelance writing is not for those who are insecure without a regular paycheck. It’s always a new job, and you must constantly put yourself out there looking for the next client. If you are lucky enough to find a client that wants…
