It was May 2nd 1979 and the Duke of Edinburgh came to my home town of Oldham in the north West of England. During his visit he was introduced to another celebrity … it was Charlie Chaplin.
They had a chat, walking off into the sunset, and then … Charlie came home … to my house!
“Hold on”, I hear you say:
“Charlie Chaplin, the famous movie star comedian of the silent movie era?” Famous for his bowler hat, his walking stick, and his funny walk? He died in 1977? This ‘Charlie’ must have been an imposter”.
