Claps Don’t MATTER
If you’re trying to make money on Medium and you’re focused on CLAPS, you’re doing it wrong.
There was once upon a time a little boy who was a shepherd. He tended to his sheep all day, and as sunset drew near, he lay down under the WiFi of a huge oak tree and took out his laptop.
He checked his stats and revenues for his blog on Medium: Expert Shepherd. They were bullshit. He had made $1 and 12c for all of his past month’s work. He was about to throw his laptop at one of the sheep when his master drew near.
Shepherds have masters in this tale for whatever reason. The young shepherd said to his master, “My stats are BULLSHIT even though I got 10,000 claps”
“Let me have a look,” the master replied patiently. He took the laptop from the young boy and paced around while holding it in his arms, all the while careful not to leave the WiFi range of the huge oak tree they were resting under.
The boy kicked some grass while waiting. “I know what your problem is,” said the master. “Claps don’t matter.”
