I didn't always agree with your politics, but I always thought that your heart was in the right place.

I admired Colin Powell's genuine leadership. He spoke out for what he believed, owned his mistakes, and committed to serving the country and not the party.

Quick Background

Colin Powel, the son of Jamaican immigrants, grew up in the Bronx. His family was poor, so he had to work every summer vacation at a soft-drink bottling plant, mopping floors.

Back then, if you were black, you cleaned floors, and if you were white, you washed bottles. However, General Powell was committed to being the best employee he could be. He stayed committed to everything he did until he passed away.

He rose from poverty to become a trusted advisor to Presidents Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W Bush. He later became the first African-American secretary of state in 2001 under President George W Bush.

His values appealed to both parties, and every president for the last 40 years has sought his endorsement for US…
