Common Kitchen Habits That Could Endanger Our Health
From what’s in our kitchen cupboards to our cooking choices that have been proven to be health risk.
There are some conventional choices we make daily, that we do not realise could pose serious risk to our health. I say conventional, because like an ignorant manager of ‘’WE’VE ALWAYS DONE IT THAT WAY’’, without realising that things have since moved on due to research into the dangers of past habits. Let us look at some below:
Simple and Common Table Salt
Yes, the body needs some amount of salts to function properly, and we also need salt to enhance the flavour of our foods, but do we even take time to consider the type of common kitchen salts we use in the kitchen?
Research into the common table salts offered in most supermarkets pointed out that the salt have been highly processed and stripped of its minerals and other trace elements to make it easily marketable. It is also laced with artificial iodine (if it is an iodine salt), as well as caking agent that allows it to flow easily. Table salt is also found to contain a high percentage of micro-plastic.
This sort of refined salt most of us consumed can result in high blood pressure and or kidney damage, and cardiovascular issues, especially on those who is in habit of adding salt directly to foods on the plate.
What to do?
Use natural sea salt, or Himalayan salt. Never add raw salt directly to foods on the plate, it is less damaging when cooked than when eating raw.

It is best to avoid oil when cooking, unless it is absolutely essential, then use sparingly. Avoid deep oil frying completely, unless we are using air-fryer.
Why?
Common cooking oil contain traces of trans-fats, which have been liquidised during processing, and can release harmful substances when heated in high temperature during cooking. These harmful substances, called PAHs…
