Conversations That Heal: A Special Panel for World Suicide Prevention Month
Every year, the month of September serves as a reminder that conversations around mental health, trauma, and suicide prevention are not optional — they are essential.
On September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day, I Sajid Mollah (Founder of The Vex Mind) personally organized a Zoom video discussion with three incredible professionals who are dedicating their lives to healing others:
Angela Canque-Kaplan, LMHC, M.S. — Trauma therapist, EMDR specialist, and brain health advocate
Chasity Leonard — Grief counselor and spiritual healing practitioner
Christi Dickey— Coach specializing in behavior change and resilience-building
I had the privilege of hosting this meaningful dialogue, where we came together with one purpose: to share insights that could offer hope, guidance, and encouragement for anyone struggling with despair — or for families supporting loved ones in crisis.
What We Explored
Our conversation touched on some of the most pressing issues in mental health today:
- Trauma & EMDR: How unresolved trauma increases suicide risk, and how EMDR therapy restores hope and emotional resilience.
- Grief & Spiritual Healing: Practical first steps for those who have lost someone to suicide, and the role of spirituality in navigating unbearable pain.
- Coaching & Resilience: Why people often remain stuck in harmful patterns — and how coaching and daily practices can shift them toward purpose and healing.

Why This Matters
Suicide prevention is not just one day in September. It’s an ongoing conversation — one that requires courage, compassion, and community.
By creating spaces like this panel discussion, my hope is to:
- Reduce stigma around seeking help
- Offer practical tools and perspectives for healing
- Remind anyone reading this: You are not alone
Conclusion
Organizing this event was both humbling and deeply moving. I am grateful to Angela, Chasity, and Christi for sharing their wisdom, and to everyone who continues to advocate for mental health awareness.
Let’s carry this spirit forward — not just in September, but every single day.
If this conversation resonates with you, I encourage you to watch, share, and continue the dialogue. Together, we can help more people find hope when they need it most.
