Italian polymath Leonardo Da Vinci’s most popular work includes his paintings like Monalisa, the Battle of Anghiari, and The Last Supper.

However, he was more than a painter.

Da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, architect, scientist, mathematician, geologist, cartographer, engineer, inventor, and biologist.

His interest moved from one subject to another — making him one of the rarest talents on earth to focus on so many different topics.

How did he manage to excel at multitasking?

Da Vinci’s Polyphasic Sleeping Pattern

Most people sleep on a monophasic cycle where they stay awake for most of the day and sleep for a longer period at night.

A polyphasic is someone who sleeps more than once per day. Leonard Da Vinci practiced a nap of 20 minutes after every 4 hours. By doing that six times a day, his total sleep time went up to 120 minutes per day.

However, the Sleep Foundation recommends 7 to 9 hours of sleep per day.
