One night Danny wakes up in the middle of the night, only to find his Dad is not there with him. He wonders where could he have gone without telling him about it, and at such a late hour. Danny starts panicking and wonders if his father got into trouble and all kinds of dreadful thoughts start flooding his mind.

But after a long time of waiting, his father finally comes back. He sees Danny sitting by the stairs of the caravan. His father knew then that it was time to let Danny know about his long-kept secret.

What he reveals to Danny leaves him amok. He couldn’t believe what he heard. His Dad tells him that he went into the woods to poach pheasants. And that he used to do it all the time in the past. In fact, his father taught him how to do it. And he loves to go poaching pheasants kept on rich folks’ lands.

As Danny and his father navigate the consequences of this revelation, the story progresses on how Danny himself learns the art of poaching with his father. How they mess around with the rich and arrogant Mr. Victor Hazzell in a hilarious showdown and how Danny and his Dad’s bond grows even stronger after the mind-boggling events that transpire.
