Today I decided to go out on a date with myself.

Why?

I have been working on a couple of projects that consume me (for the best). I am fortunate to be working on things that allow me to pursue my creativity and learn at the same time. The world changed due to the pandemic and we all slipped into our comfort zones of working from home. I had never experienced anything like that before since I have been an on-ground squirrel — running around from one place to another. This transition did me really well — I am able to have fresh food, work on myself and my health, spend time with my family, and save all the money I would have otherwise spent on coffee and snacks. I feel my mind is a lot more relaxed and I am able to focus on my work. Yet, I love meeting people, seeing people, and talking about my ideas as I work. Learning is social, they say.

I have also been trying to take myself out on a date once every week to clear my mind and feel independent. It was even better since I didn’t have any work meetings today. I arrived at the Harvard club in NYC and finished a bunch of work. Because I wasn’t in my comfort zone and I knew nothing else I could do (laze around, spend time in the kitchen, or poke my husband), I felt a lot more productive. But, finishing the work wasn’t the…
