I’m a corporate girly and an unmedicated ADHDer. The two of them don’t especially go seamlessly like a knife through butter. In fact, a more accurate analogy of how it feels to have ADHD and work an office job would be trying to cut ice with a bread knife. And while sometimes it’s a knife through butter situation, most days, it’s not.

I decided to take you through a day in my life and write all about my strategies to keep myself focused and as safe from executive dysfunction (task freeze) as I can. Most ADHDers probably relate to the fact that each day is very different. While I have at least one or two days a week when I can fire through tasks seamlessly, there are also days when I can hardly drag myself to do the bare minimum.

Then, there are the in-between days, when I’m not exactly focused, but not exactly at my best either, and that’s where I get to play around. As you will see, it’s a constant battle and it can be a lot more exhausting for neurodivergent people than it is for neurotypical people. But that doesn’t mean we can’t do it or shouldn’t fight it.
